Submission to Amnesty International Headquarters – 8 May 2023
On 8 May 2023, the Security Studies and Rule of Law Association (SRL Swiss) submitted a communication to the Secretary General and International Board of Amnesty International concerning the Türkiye section of Amnesty International’s 2022/23 annual report, The State of the World’s Human Rights.
The submission followed an earlier communication to Amnesty International’s Türkiye Branch and raised concerns regarding the limited coverage of large-scale human rights issues affecting individuals subjected to post-2016 emergency measures. It referred to dismissals under emergency decrees, detention and imprisonment, the situation of affected families and children, and findings of international human rights mechanisms.
SRL Swiss requested clarification regarding the selection of issues included in Amnesty International’s Türkiye reporting and called for these documented human rights concerns to receive appropriate consideration in future reports.
