Evaluation of Amnesty International’s 2024 Türkiye Report
On 10 May 2024, SRL Swiss submitted a further communication to the Secretary General of Amnesty International concerning the Türkiye section of its 2024 Annual Report. The submission raised concerns that significant human rights issues arising during and after the post-2016 state of emergency—including arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment, fair-trial concerns, restrictions affecting dismissed public servants and their families, and alleged forced transfers—had not been adequately reflected. SRL also referred to the European Court of Human Rights’ judgment in Yüksel Yalçınkaya v. Türkiye and called for a more comprehensive and objective assessment of post-2016 human rights violations in future reporting.
