Urgent Submission to the UN Human Rights Committee: Abductions of Turkish Asylum Seekers in Kenya
On 20 October 2024, SRL Swiss submitted an urgent communication to the United Nations Human Rights Committee concerning the reported abduction of Turkish asylum seekers in Nairobi, Kenya. The submission was presented as a recent development related to the issue of enforced disappearances and abductions previously addressed in SRL Swiss’s shadow report to the Committee.
According to the information cited in the submission, seven Turkish nationals were reportedly abducted on 18 October 2024 by masked and armed individuals. SRL Swiss requested that the Human Rights Committee take these developments into account during its review of Türkiye and raise the matter with the Turkish delegation.
