SRL Swiss member Abdullah Öztürk contributes to community life in Switzerland through calligraphy presentations and workshops held in schools, churches, educational institutions, care homes, and various social and community organisations.
Through these activities, people of different ages and cultural backgrounds are introduced to the traditional art of calligraphy and are encouraged to participate actively in the creative process by producing their own works.

     In

particular, workshops held in care homes provide participants with an opportunity to discover a new form of artistic expression, create their own works, and spend meaningful and enjoyable time together. In this way, calligraphy becomes more than an art form to be presented; it develops into a shared activity that encourages interaction, conversation, and personal participation.
At the heart of these activities is the idea that art can bring people together. When people from different cultural backgrounds come together around the same table, learn something new, and create together, opportunities for curiosity, dialogue, and mutual understanding naturally emerge.
For Abdullah Öztürk, these activities also represent a form of active participation in Swiss society. Integration is not only about finding one’s place in a new society; it also means contributing to the wider community by sharing one’s skills, experiences, and cultural resources.
